All fans who will attend Rhein Fire matches this year will not only see a game. It also puts the spotlight on those who have been injured, wounded or fallen ill as a result of their service to the community.
Soldiers defend security and freedom worldwide in public. However, their psychological and physical injuries and illnesses remain invisible to many. Not everyone in Germany has relatives in the Bundeswehr or in the emergency services. The partnership between RHEIN FIRE and the INVICTUS GAMES DÜSSELDORF 2023 presented by Boeing draws attention to the lives and fates of servicemen and women and their personal journey of rehabilitation.

Initiated in 2014 by Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, the INVICTUS GAMES will be held in Germany for the first time in 2023. The project, supported by the German Armed Forces together with the city of Düsseldorf, is intended to be a unique celebration of optimism and inspiration. One of the essential goals of this international sports competition is to give soldiers who are wounded, injured and ill in mind and body a greater awareness and recognition in society and to support their path in rehabilitation. The event will take place in Düsseldorf under the motto “A HOME FOR RESPECT. The venue is the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA, the adjacent sports park and the Rheinbad.
