The Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Defence, Siemtje Möller, and the Mayor of the City of Düsseldorf, Dr Stephan Keller, inform the volunteers’ superiors about the Games and ask them to support volunteering.
An incredible 2,723! That is the number of people from all over the world who, by the end of October, have applied to volunteer for the INVICTUS GAMES DÜSSELDORF 2023. We are overwhelmed by this result, and would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you. Your voluntary social commitment sends a strong signal in society. It shows your appreciation for servicemen and women who have been wounded or injured on deployments and while serving their country, or who have become ill.
Asking superiors for their support
We, the people in the INVICTUS GAMES DÜSSELDORF 2023 project team who are responsible for volunteering, are now in the middle of the selection process: In January 2023, we will send out about 1,100 confirmations, or let you know that you are on the waiting list. For those of you whose application has been accepted, it’s full speed ahead as the preparations for the Games begin. This also includes informing your employers, agency heads and heads of service as well as your superiors about your voluntary work. Let them know in good time that you want to take leave between 9 and 16 September and for upcoming volunteer training sessions, or ask them for a temporary release from duty/work for this period.
