Düsseldorf – The Invictus Games, the competitions for wounded, injured and sick service members, will take place in Düsseldorf in September. The mascot has now been chosen – suggestions for its name can be submitted until the end of the week.
The Invictus Games Düsseldorf 2023 presented by Boeing will have their own mascot – but it is still nameless. They are a friendly dog of the Hovawart breed, but they can walk on two legs. As the embodiment of a sporting event, they naturally come across as particularly sporty and also wear a sports outfit with the Invictus Games logo.

The motto “A Home for Respect” is printed on his shorts. The mascot will be a walking figure at the competitions, cheering on the competitors, making the spectators laugh and also accompanying the social programme.
According to the Invictus Games, the dog breed is characterised by an exceptionally strong personality as well as high intelligence, sensitivity and extreme attachment. That is why Hovawarts are often used as companion dogs or social dogs. Some of them will also be present at the Games, as some soldiers use them as companion dogs.
If you have an idea for a name for your dog, you can send it to Maskottchen@invictusgames23.de until Friday. The organisers of the games will raffle two tickets (price category 1) for the opening ceremony on 9 September, 6.30 pm. The Hovawart will of course be there.
