TEAM AUSTRALIA

The 31-strong Australian Invictus Games Dusseldorf 2023 team is excited to compete in Dusseldorf with the support of over 80 or their family and friends.
Chef de Mission of Team Australia, Brigadier Phil Winter, said the team is a credit to the Australian Defence Force and the nation.
“I continue to be humbled and inspired by our Invictus Games competitors and their family and friends who have served our nation, many in challenging circumstances,” he said.
“The Invictus Games embodies the best of sportsmanship, ensuring every competitor is embraced and encouraged regardless of results. “

Colour- and cheerful: Team Australia is easily recognized by their bright jerseys and their cheerful demeanor.

A competitor’s rehabilitation and recovery is often uniformly lengthy and painful, however the power of sport has the ability to transform people’s lives. “They and their teammates represent the epitome of resilience and the Australian spirit.”
Flight Sergeant Nathan King and Able Seaman Taryn Dickens will co-captain Team Australia and to say they are looking forward to the Games is an understatement.
“Being able to lead such an incredible group of people is truly an honour and I am grateful to have been considered for the role,” Flight Sergeant King said.

“I’ll be encouraging everyone to put their best foot forward and just do their best – that’s what it’s all about.
Able Seaman Taryn Dickens said it was a privilege to lead Team Australia.
“I am honoured to be selected co-captain with so many other deserving people on the team. I am very grateful to have been selected,” Able Seaman Dickens said.
“The team knows each other really well and the culture in the team is really supportive. It’s a great environment.”
Team Australia is supported by the Australian Defence Force and Invictus Australia.
