home-respect

A Home For Respect

This is the motto under which the Invictus Games will take place in Düsseldorf from 9-16 September 2023. For the first time, the games of the Duke of Sussex’s Invictus, Harry, are coming to Germany.

Respect is not demanded, it’s given. And the lives of the Invictus athletes definitely deserve respect. Soldiers from over 20 nations who have been sick, injured or wounded in their service for freedom and democracy can take part in the Invictus Games.

They have all come a long way. Their mental and physical wounds have thrown their lives off track. But they did not give up. Through sport and the help of their families and friends, they found their way to rehabilitation and are now ready to represent themselves and their fight back to life at the Invictus Games. An achievement that deserves respect.

With the 6th Invictus Games in Düsseldorf, it is our goal to give soldiers who are wounded, injured and ill in body and soul a greater awareness and recognition in society and to support their path to rehabilitation.

We want to make Düsseldorf a “Home for Respect”. We are not demanding it. But we are sure that Düsseldorf and Germany will pay tribute to it when they get to know our athletes, their path and their stories.

Since this week, we have been visible in the host city of our Games with the advertising campaign “A Home For Respect”.

Idea and vision

They focus on the people who have been injured in body and soul in service for their country and our freedom. People who, with their will and courage to face life, have won a new place in life and created new perspectives.

The power of sport

The Invictus Games demonstrate in a unique way that sport has a positive effect on the body and the soul – and what power sport unfolds as part of a holistic rehabilitation concept. This is also the approach of the German Armed Forces.
